Back to previous page Add a New Legend

Example of adding a new Legend

1. Select the Legend Edit tool from the toolbar and click at the location on the page where you want to place the legend, it can be moved after it's created so the initial location is not important. After you click, a window that looks like the one below will be displayed.

Tip: Setup the dimensions of the legend before you start editing the legend. Decide how many rows and columns you need and add them using then Add Row and Insert Column Tools.

2. To add a symbol to the second row do the following:
Highlight the cell in the first, "A",  column and the Row 2 as shown below.

3. Click on the arrow to the right of the second drop down list box and select Default Tube

4. A black circle with a white background will be displayed in the selected cell ("A2" in this case).

5. Select the cell in the second column , B2, and type in some text. Do the same for the cell in the third column, C2. Go to the fourth column, D2, and make sure that the cell type is set to # Symbol Counter. Finally go to the fifth column, E2,  and make sure the column type is set to % Symbol Counter.

6. To add a symbol for the next row, select the first cell in the third row, A3, and then select a symbol from the symbol drop down list box (like above).

7. To change the color of the symbol, click on the down arrow to the right of the third drop down list box and select the color that you want.

8. Now the symbol in that cell will have the fill color that you selected.

9. Continue adding symbols for all the rows that you want to have in the legend. If you want to add more rows then click in the Add Row tool on the toolbar.

10. When you are done adding the symbols then you might add a Total row. This is a row that keeps track of all the numbers of symbols and tube holes in the layout. To do this, select the Total item from the symbol list box.

11. When you are done, you can save the legend to use it later in another project. Click on the Save button and give the legend a name. The file extension for Layout Legends is .LEG.

12. When you are done with the legend, click on the OK button and the legend will be created on your page.
