Building a New Pressure Vessel

To create a new Pressure Vessel project you select Pressure Vessel Project from the New Project menu or the new project button.

After you have done this the the New Pressure Vessel dialog will be displayed. From this dialog you can enter the basic design information for your new pressure vessel. This information can be changed at any time after the pressure vessel has been built.

General Tab

The General tab contains general information regarding the pressure vessel such as Description, Customer, Manufacturer, Design mode, etc.

 

Template Set

You can select what template set you want to use for the drawings in this project.

Condition Tab

Here you can specify the basic design conditions for the vessel. All components that are added to the vessel will be initialized with these values although each component can override these values with their own specific values.

 

Design Tab

Here you can specify the basic dimensions and other geometrical properties for the vessel.

You can also select what basic material group that you want to use for the vessel. A material group is a collection of materials that specifies what material different types of components in an vessel should have. SnapCAD comes with some preexisting material groups that you can use and edit, but you can also create your own through the Material Group Editor.

Base Component Tab

If you want you can either add the first component (Base Component) to the vessel here or you can add it by dragging and dropping it onto the 3D model view after you click on the build button and the basic properties for the vessel is set.

Adding components to the vessel after build

Components can be added and remove from a vessel at any time after build. Normally it's done by dragging a component assembly from the Assembly Toolbox and dropping into the place where you want it. Please see the chapter Adding Components for more information.

Loading and Saving Default Data

You can save the current data for the new vessel to a default file that you can use at a later time. To do that you click on the Save button, to retrieve an existing default file you load it by clicking on the Load button and then locate the file.

Changing Component Data

You can change the data for any component that are included in the project. First select the component that you want o change either by clicking on it in the 3D model view or selecting it either from the drop down list on the properties window or by selecting it in the Project Browser.

Once a component is selected it will be highlighted with a yellow box in the 3D model view.
