Another of SnapCAD's very powerful features is it's fully customizable calculations reports. SnapCAD comes with a collection of ready to use reports templates. You can either use these as they are, or customize them according to your needs. The editing and customization of the report templates are done using the HTC's XRD.Report Designer program. All reports that have been created for a project are stored inside the project file.
Displaying Reports
Reports for the active component or vessel/exchanger are created by clicking on the
Reports button 
on
the main tool bar or by selecting an item from the main
Reports menu.
The report that will be created when clicking on the Reports button depends on what is displayed on the Properties screen. If the properties for a component is displayed then the default report for that component will be displayed, if the properties for a vessel or exchanger is displayed then the default parts-summary for that vessel/exchanger will be displayed.
The Reports button has a drop down menu with several options.
- Component - Mechanical
Displays the default report for the active component in the project - Vessel - Coversheet
Displays the default coversheet for the active vessel or exchanger. - Vessel - Parts Summary
Displays the default parts summary for the active vessel or exchanger. - Vessel - Inspection
Displays the default inspection report for the active vessel or exchanger. - Vessel - Material
Displays the default material report/Bill of Material for the active vessel or exchanger. - U-1
Displays a U-1 form for the active vessel/exchanger - U-2
Displays a U-2 form for the active vessel/exchanger - Use Custom Report Template...
Allows you to create a report based on a non-default or custom report template. An example for that could be a welding-procedure or strength report. If the current data on the properties screen is a vessel or an exchanger then that vessel or exchanger will be used as a basis for the report, otherwise the active component will be used.
More advanced report options can be found on the Report menu. From this menu you can access a variety of features concerning creating, editing and exporting reports.
Component
- Component - View Calculation Report
Creates/Displays the default report for the the active component. The default template for a component can be set by selecting Set Report Template from the menu. - Component - Use Custom Report Template.
Creates a report for the active component using a template you select.
Vessel
- Vessel - Calculation Reports
There are several sub items to this menu
1. Vessel - Mechanical Summary. Creates/displays a mechanical summary report for the active vessel/exchanger using the default report template.
2. Create External Workbook. Creates and displays an external file containing default reports from all the component belonging to the active vessel/exchanger.
3. Special Reports. Allows the creation of U-1 and U-2 forms for the active vessel/exchanger.
4. Use Custom Report Template. Creates a report for the active vessel/exchanger based on a non-default report template the you select. - Vessel - Inspection Reports
All items are similar to the Calculation Reports item but are related to Inspection reports. - Vessel - Material Reports
All items are similar to the Calculation Reports item but are related to Material reports.
Active Report
- Active Report - Load New Template
Replace the template used by the active report with one you select. - Active Report - Open in External Editor
Displays the active report in an external editing program. Changes that you make to the report in the external program will not be reflected in the original report in the project. - Active Report - Save to File...
Saves the active report to a Excel file. - Active Report - Rename
Lets you change the name that is displayed in the Report List. - Active Report - Remove from Project
Removes the Active report from the project and the Report List.
Templates
- Templates - Edit Report Templates
Displays a list of all default reports from which you can select which one to edit. The changes made to a default template will only affect reports that are created after the edit and saving of the templates is completed. - Templates - Edit Active Report Template
Displays the the template for the active report and lets you edit it. Changes will be made to all reports in the project that are using the same template. If you for example edits a default cylinder template then all existing cylinder reports, that are using the default template, will be updated. - Templates - Set Report Templates
Displays a list of all vessel and component types and allows you to set their default report templates.
The Report List
The Reports tab contains a list of all the report in a project. In order to generate a report you must first select it in the list. To add a report, other than the default, for a component of vessel then you must select Use Custom Report Template... from the Reports menu. Any reports created using a custom report template will also be displayed in this list.
Note: Only report templates for reports that has been generated in the current project are stored in the project file.
The report template that is used for a particular component or vessel type can be set by selecting Set Report Templates from the Report menu.
